LINE SHADE AND SHAPE Nos. 1-6. November 30, 2015
Lines made with a brush and quink/distemper on Japanese paper 20″ x 30″
These are exercises in controlling the brush to make a continuous line of changing shape and shade. I used three different brushes and decided that one brush was most suitable for carrying sufficient ink and changing shape of the lines in response to pressure. Here it became apparent how important the quality of the brush, and all of one’s materials, are important.

Thank you, the exercises help me get back to ‘form’, I haven’t painted in a long time I am rusty.
