As a livestock farmer I am quite well-acquainted with death. The birth of an animal brings much joy. Its death is a necessary part of that joy.

The woman seems a bit worried. She is looking towards one side while caressing her long black hair. To her left are three figures – a pig, a cat and a bird – painted in dark colors. Behind them is a young breadfruit tree and an avocado tree. Two years later, that breadfruit tree is flowering and fruiting.
Death is a tough reality. I’ve had lots of grieving practice with all the animals on the farm. The pigs are the most difficult to bear. They are very large animals and I love them.
