Hold the Pig

Native papaya trees grow wild in the garden. The bats and birds plant them. Their fruits are very sweet.

HOLD THE PIG, 2022

9 W x 12 H inches, acrylic on watercolor paper 200gsm

This is an affect portrait. The woman looks indifferent. Her eyes are crossed. The pig is cross eyed as well but looks happy. The pig is clutching an unfriendly looking cat. At the back there is a papaya tree with green fruits. A black bird is interested in a fruit that looks like it is about to ripen. At the back is a meandering footpath and a hazy depiction of the Bohol Chocolate Hills.

I made this painting very quickly. After the destructive typhoon I started to paint very quickly. Because we had no electricity I couldn’t paint at night.
